  • Question

  • Is there a way to allow user to change the presence status or notes for another user?
I'm trying to get a legacy application removed from our envionment, this application is a manual in/out system and the users have been acustom to being able to modify the status of other users.
For example, the department head calls his office staff to say he will be back an hour later than expected, so the staff was able to change that information on the systems on his behalf.
Trying to get them used to the idea of using the precence features, but as you know users are resistant to change.
I want to be able to allow team members to change the notes for other team members, even ifs a third party app that someone developed with the SDK.

  • If the department head is not logged in you will not be able to change his information!
What you should consider is that Mobile devices like windows mobile can have communicator on the device.
So one can change the status and info message

  • AFAIK, there is no built-in delegation feature in MOC or R2 that enables someone to modify Presence information for another party.

  • There is Delegation but this only refers to Boss / Admin scenario's in Telephone calls
So a Delegate can pickup the call for someone else that configured the Delegate

Presence information is a whole other thing, it is supposed to be tied to an individual and in that respect the scenario that you request is not part of the design
