CRM 4.0- Outlook client slowness RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Our client has outlook client slowness problems. They said 3 of their users  received some PDF files of 3 MB size and after that they started feeling slowness. We ran Diagnostics and found follwoing results.

      <Title>Verifying e-mail tagging statistics.</Title>
<Details>Microsoft.Crm.Outlook.Diagnostics.WarningDiagnosticCheckException: E-mail tagging may be running slowly. By reducing the number of items in each of your e-mail folders in Outlook, you can improve performance. at Microsoft.Crm.Outlook.Diagnostics.EmailTaggingPerformanceDiagnosticCheck.Execute(BackgroundWorker backgroundWorker) at Microsoft.Crm.Outlook.Diagnostics.DiagnosticCheck.DeepExecute(BackgroundWorker backgroundWorker)</Details>

It says, we need to move emails to some other folders. Does it mean we need to move files to our PST? Is there any other way we can see the reason for slowness?

  • Look at the size of the OST files and the number of items in the Outlook folders like Inbox, Sent, Deleted Items, etc.  Try cleaning up the OST file by archiving old e-mails to a pst file.  If the OST file becomes large, you will see a performance impact as there are many items for the CRM Outlook Client to work through.  I've found that one of the folders that can have a big impact on the OST file is the Sync Error folder.  User's don't usually have that folder visible.  You have to select folder view to see it.
