Phantom Mapped Drives with No Shared Folders RRS feed

  • Question

  • I mapped two folders from my Windows Home Server to my work PC (XP Enterprise Edition).  I did this to have special folders for storing non-business files.  I then migrated to to a Vista Enterprise PC.  It was a clean installation, but I recovered file folders from a corporate backup.

Somehow the drive mapping tried to migrate also.  However, the drives only look mapped.  They're not really there, and although the Disconnect option is present, it doesn't do anything.  Also, when I right-click the WHS icon in the system tray, and select Shared Folders, a window opens only showing the two folders that "used to be" shared and an empty Printers folder/icon.  From other PC's on my home network, Shared Folders opens WHS shared folders as expected.

Any idea what's going on?  I've searched for this for quite a while.
