Running VB.NET Windows Applications on a Google Chromebook... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an application that I've coded in VB.NET (Visual Studio of course) that I'm trying to run (not run Visual Studio, just completed application) on some friends Google Chromebooks .

What is the EASIEST way or the CHEAPEST solution for running on these newer Chromebooks? I'd like to get some ideas so that I can send them over to my friends who are trying to run my program on their machines. Thanks!

    P.S.

Oh, and my program is using the MySQL.DLL file that needs to go with the .exe file. Not sure if this really matters in this case.

  • Hi,

This forum is discussing and asking questions about the vb.net, I will move it to a more appropriate forum.

  • My apologies, I thought that I selected the VB.NET location. Thanks!

Actually people who develop in Visual Studio have also faced this problem as well too, as I'm sure that I'm not the only one. I'm sure that they've tried to run their programs in Chromebook and had to find a solution. I don't see why any of the VS developers wouldn't know the answer.

Actually I've already set this thread to be posted there. One of the MS moderators must have moved it to the wrong section.

  • They tossed it as off topic. Those forums do not focus on chrome book development.

    This is the Where-Is-Forum.

You should ask in the VS Forum of your programming language and give more details about your Visual Studio project. In your original question you only talk about running an app on a "Google Chromebook (not Visual Studio,...)" which at first has nothing to do with Visual Studio.

Well, that wasn't right for them to do that...smh...The post has PLENTY of relevance as for cross-platform compatibility issues which are a common thing. The mods need to move this to the proper section like they originally claimed that they would instead of setting it as "off topic".

You'll need to find another way to present your question otherwise they'll move it off topic again.

Yeah, I just finished making it more specific. It should show more relevance now.

    Some ideas here.

You'll need to re-ask a new question in the desired forum.
