is it possible to install media player/directshow? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'd like to install HPC on our video encoding servers, but it's necessary to have media player's codecs and directshow installed in order for the encoding machines to properly decode video.  Is there any way to add this functionality to HPC without going back to regular 2008 server?

  • I've developed a video encoding application for HPC (non R2) cluster.

May be it will help http://hpcvideoencoder.codeplex.com/

As our cluster was redeployed based on Win Server R2 and Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 was released I'm working for updating my application now.

But installing Windows Server 2008 HPC edition is bad idea because it is not suported Desctop Expereince feature that is needed for Expression Encoder (and I think directshow too)
