Which certification to go for? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I am currently an ict technician in a secondary school in the UK. I want to improve my knowledge of networks (management, troubleshooting and setting up). I currently have limited knowledge of how servers are set up and run etc.

What i would like to know is which certificates would best help me to gain this knowledge?

I have looked at the MCITP: Enterprise Admin whilst gaining the MCITP: Server Admin first. Would this be the best route?

I ultimatly want my career to end up being a network manager.

Any advice would be great thanks.

  • When you pass each TS exam, you will get an MCTS cetification. For example, passing 70-640 exam - you'll get MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Configuration certification.

When you pass all 5 exams you will get MCITP certificate.

There are a lot information resources how to prepare for exam. What about me, I'm using self-paced traning, mspress book, cbtnuggets video cources, etc. But it'd better from practical point to try to prepare for the exams.

What about qualfication? You can try to prepare for 70-680 exam TS: Windows 7, Configuring. And after passing exam, start with server platform certification. It's just an advice.
