  • I'm pretty new to servers but not necessarily networking.. whats a good small cheap server to get started with and is it possible to change an older computer into use as a server?

  • Yes, it is possible to turn an old computer into a server and if you are looking for a prebuild server, i think the HP mediasmart is right for you.

    It depends on your hardware experience. just take an alredy running PC and install WHS on it, it will be a Home Server. You can download a 120 trial DVD of WHS to test it and later you can buy it if you like it.

  • Take a look at the HP Proliant ML 115 servers. Works fine with WHS. I paid £115 for mine.
