    I can't specifically address the Marketplace issue, nor do I know where to send you to seek help with that, but it may actually be related to the cause of your OneCare problem. If you receive the error about the service being stopped and not protecting your computer shortly after booting the PC and rebooting does not resolve it, your date and time may be incorrect. Check the month/day/year and time and correct it if it is wrong. Reboot after correcting it.

    If the date is wrong, OneCare can fail as you are describing, and it can cause you problems in accessing secure web sites that depend on SSL certificates.
