You can only have one subscription associated with a LiveID (the email address you used to activate). So, when you activated the 4th PC with the same LiveID, it became part of your first subscription. You'll need to uninstall OneCare from the 4th PC and reinstall it, activating the second subscription with a different LiveID. You'll be asked for the key or payment when you use a different LiveID.

I understand your concern and agree with the basis of the concern. You'll find many discussions in the forums about the topic of additional licenses for a subscription.
It is my understanding that this is a Billing system issue and that there should eventually be a solution for it. In fact, I am surprised that we're still in the same situation as it was mentioned during the 2.0 beta that something was coming to address this. No time frame was given, but... Right now, I have to assume that the solution isn't too far off as OneCare for Server, coming with the next version of SBS should be available later this year - 2nd half of '08, according to the press release. I am sure that deploying OneCare to clients from the SBS server isn't going to require multiple LiveIDs to exceed 3 copies!
As for your current situation, as I noted, there is no technical reason for limiting the number of PCs. There is a hard limit of activations that can take place, though. You'd have to reinstall all of your PCs a few times in order to hit it. In the event that they do decide to restrict your subscription to 3 actively running copies, you can bite the bullet at that time and reinstall. My personal advice (I don't work for Microsoft) would be to shelve the second licensed copy for now and consider that key used - don't use it for another subscription as long as you are running more than 3 PCs on your first one. ;-)

Well Steve that was a poor idea on Microsoft's part! I am sure not going to create another live ID for that one computer or any others I will use the other two legal licenses on. If that is the solution than they should limit the product to be sold as one copy per person as a limit. I am a reseller and they push me to sell it to clients. I can't if they have nore than 3 computers. Microsoft already has too many ID's and sign on stuff for its own good. As long as the product keeps working I'm not changing a thing. If that is the only solution than I guess I will no be using the products in the future.Thursday, May 1, 2008 3:00 PM

I have installed the 3 pack on one PC with no problem and have activated my account. \on the second PC I was only given 30 days. On the third it said I have 9 days to activate. How do I activate the 2nd and 3rd PC for a full year?Saturday, May 3, 2008 2:49 AM

When you install and subscribe on the first PC, you sign in with a LiveID and provide a retail key or payment information to begin a subscription. When you install to a 2nd and 3rd PC or reinstall at any time, subscribing or activating means that you sign in with the *same* LiveID that you already subscribed with.

That was pretty much my plan. Odd that Microsoft with their paranoia over activations really created such a poor planned structure to work with. Guess they never anticipated people haveing more than 3 pc'sMonday, May 5, 2008 2:18 PM
