CRM 2011 Outlook client for use both internal and external RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I can't find anyinformation on how to configure an CRM for Outlook client if they are going to use both in the office network and outside on for example customer locations.

We have an IFD up and working but that is at the moment only published outside the office. Should I put the IFD URL in the internal DNS as well?

How else would the CRM Client know which URL to use?

    Regards

  • Hi Joakim,

You have to use External URL for customer locations to configure Outlook client.

For the internal Users you can use internal or external URL's to configure Outlook client.

You dont have to create Internal DNS. You can also use only one External URL for internal and external users.

    Claims Authentication:

    1. Needed for IFD access, when claim is enable both internal and internal access will need to pass through claims authentication.

    2. External URL will be prompted for credentials

    3. Internal URL will not be prompted for credentials.

  • Not really an answer.

What I want to know is which is the recommended way for a salesperson that works 2 days in the office and 3 days on a customer location.

If I use the external URL will he always be prompted for login?

  • Hi,

    External is recommended.

If you use external URL the user will prompt for credentials whenever he try to access the CRM.

You can also use Outlook client for CRM.

If you use external URL, there is a session timeout by ADFS you can extend the session timeout.
