Windows 7 build 7600: non-genuine issue RRS feed

    Like everyone else, my computer told me my copy of windows 7 isn't genuine. After consulting the other threads, I tried activating it by re-typing my product key. However, I received a message that said: Error code 0x8007232b - DNS name does not exist. I haven't found a solution for this on other threads. Also, the Windows activation box does not even offer phone activation! What do I do?

    As I thought – the License is a KMS license, sold only in bulk to organisations for use on their own machines – and requires a special server owned by that organisation for activation purposes. It also requires that the PC has a valid SLIC table in the BIOS which effectively proves that the machine already has a license for Windows (all Volume Licenses are Upgrade licenses).
    Your machine does not have such a SLIC table, so could not use a KMS license, even if you could otherwise do so.
    Your installation of Office is also non-genuine, as it is using a Blocked Volume License Key – one which has been abused or reported stolen (or expired).
     
    If you bought this copy of Windows, you need to claim a refund from wherever you purchased it, or report them for piracy.
    If you are a member of an organisation entitled to use KMS licenses, contact your System Admin – they will have to issue you with a MAK Key instead.

    This sounds like a KMS Key.
     
    To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
    Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
    To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

    A type 1 license does not require an "up-to-date" SLIC table. It just requires there be one. Also, I never suggest a BIOS update unless I know that the list of issues addressed by the update includes symptoms described by the user. I'm not a fan of BIOS updates due to a couple of dramatically bad experiences. YMMV
