Can't delete folder on desktop

  After uninstalling Live Mesh I can't delete three folders on my desktop (Win XP SP3) anymore. Before uninstalling they were synchronized with the Live-Mesh-Desktop. They are write-protected. If I remove the check it will be there again when I look up the properties of the folder next time. I tried to delete the folders in the secured mode or with extra software. Unsuccessful. Do you have an idea, what I could try next?
