Woke up this morning to a red network status indicator. Console says an update is available, is it a good idea to install it with PP1 ?

Yes. It's the July Malicious Software Removal Tool causing the red network health indicator, which includes an EULA that you must click through manually. Most updates will install manually; those with an EULA may require this additional step.
