  • Hi,
    I am trying to integrate OCS 2007 with Asterisk. I have successfully installed and configured OCS but haven't tried with the integration part.   • I am also working on the integration of OCS 2007 and Asterisk. Unfortunately, I am relatively new to the Asterisk/VOIP world. What I do know thus far is this: you need to set up a Mediation Server to handle all of your SIP traffic translation between OCS/Exchange UM and Asterisk PBX. The documentation I have found so far is pretty vague on the actual execution and setup.

    I will keep working on it. So far I've managed to get the two systems to communicate through mediation but not place calls. If I manage to get a call out to a pstn line from communicator I will let you know how I did it. Keep me posted.

    We have also done an integration outside of the 3 "supported" media gateways, ours is a Cisco 2000 series voice router.


    We had some fun getting this to work, as our current VoIP system talks SIP over UDP, whereas OCS Mediation server will only support SIP over TCP.  Once we got the commands right in the Cisco for this, all go.


    The Mediation Server converts outgoing encrypted TLS RTP traffic into SIP over TCP and sends it onto the specified gateway.  So long as your gateway will receive this you should be fine. In our case, the negotiated audio codec between the two systems is G.711 u-law.


    The inverse also applies of course, taking the SIP over TCP traffic and converting it into the encrypted traffic and pushing onto the OCS server.


    Just make sure your users Line URI field is in the e.164 format i.e. +<countrycode><areacode><number> otherwise inbound calls will fail.

  • 1.  We do not run Asterisk.  We run Cisco hardware (routers, switches, IP phones) IPFX call manager software and OCS

    2.  what do you want to know?  the 'config' is rather big Smile

    3.  we had to add a bunch of lines to the config, mainly to handle the SIP/UDP to SIP/TCP conversion, other than that it was just dial-peer config.  we set up OCS with a new extension range.


    Happy to help with more if you can ask some specific questions.
