Office goes Not Genuine following install of Outlook 2007 BCM

Question
-
I purchased Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager (stand alone) the other day and following the installation, I started to get the "Not Genuine" messages. During the installation of Outlook BCM, I was not prompted for the Product Key (FPP). Both are legit copies. My assumption is that Outlook BCM is looking at the product key of Office causing it to assume it is invalid. True? If so, can you tell me how to get in and reset my Outlook BCM with the key that came with the download?Thursday, September 10, 2009 7:05 PM

Hello edfromindy,
I only see two Office products currently installed on your computer:
Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - Which is showing a Non-Genuine status of '108 Invalid VLK'
Microsoft Expression Web 2 - Which is showing a status of 121 that means it is not supported by Office Genuine Advantage and is ignored during any Office Validations.
The Office Enterprise 2007 was installed using a Invalid Volume License Key. "Invalid" means the key was not created by Microsoft, but was generated from pirating software called a Key Generator (KeyGen)
Outlook is included in Office Enterprise, but I do not see a Standalone copy of Outlook installed on your computer. In addition, I can't think of any situation in which a Genuine Office Product would not ask for a product key at install (regardless of if there is any other office products already installed).
At this point, the first thing to do is uninstall Office Enterprise 2007.
Once it is uninstalled, rebooot and then try installing that Standalone copy of Outlook w/BCM again. (did it ask for a product key this time?)
After it has installed, run the MGA Diagnostic Tool again, click the copy button and then paste the Report into Notepad.
Looking at the report in notepad and scroll down till you see the "OGA Data-->" line. Under that will show the current (overall) status for a all installed Office Products. Under the "Office Status" line will list each of the Office Products that are currently installed and their specific Genuine status. Does the Outlook w/BCM show now?
OGA Data-->
Office Status: xxxxxxx <-Will show the current overall Genuine status for all installed office products
xxxxxxxxxxx <-The space between the "Office Status" and "OGA Version" lins show each installed office product and it's genuine status.
Hope that helped,

To help us troubleshoot the issue you are experiencing, please download and run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostics Tool. Once you run the tool, click on the Continue button, then click on the Copy button and paste the report into your post. Thank you!

Thanks Darin.
1. What is my recourse on the IT bozo who loaded Office 2007; I assume I'm just out $500?
2. Here is the material received on the standalone outlook bcm...obviously there is more but should you need to look it up:

Hello Edfromindy,
First I would recommend contacting the person or company that sold you the non-genuine software and demand the Genuine Microsoft Software that you paided for. Or at the very least, a refund. I also encourage you to submit a Piracy Report at http://microsoft.com/piracy.
$500 is a substantial amount. If you are unable to get proper Genuine Microsoft software or a refund, you may want to seek legal advise as to any recourse you may have under the laws for your area. (disclamer: I am not a lawyer).
As for the standalone Outlook bcm, have you uninstalled the non-genuine Office 2007 and then tried installing the Outlook? If so, did you run a Diag Report and see if it shows as genuine? If you bought it direct from Microsoft, it will Validate as Genuine. I believe we just need to get the Non-Genuine stuff uninstalled first, for it to show and validate correctly.
Thank you and good luck,
