Server not seen from Internet RRS feed

    I purchased a One Care subscription   it's on  3 computers in my Home network.

     

    My main computer runs Vista...my back up and server run XP. All can be accesed by the Vista machine.meaning, I can access, move etc.from the other two machines

     

    My 2 Problems are:
             1. Now my web site on Server is no longer available from the internet.

    2.Neither the server     or the backup computers can access the Vista machine. It keeps asking for a password of which I never put one on it.

     

    What's the phone number to speak to  a One Care Tech and why do they make it so hard to find it ?

  • For the first problem:

    I believe that you are going to have to allow inbound port 80 on the machine hosting the web site(or whatever port you are hosting the site on) in the OneCare firewall. Open OneCare, change settings, Firewall/Advanced/Ports and protocols/add - TCP 80 Internet inbound and outbound (or maybe just inbound....)

     

    For the 2nd problem:

     

    Open OneCare on each of the computers.

    Click Change Settings

    On the firewall tab, click configure firewall

    If the network is shown as Public, click Change Location to change it to "Home or Work."

    Click the Advanced Settings button

    Click Network connections tab.

    If there are multiple active connections shown, you may need to disable them in your Windows network connections settings. (Network and Sharing Center, manage connections, in Vista; Right click My Network Places and select Properties on the Start menu in XP)

    On the Ports and Protocols tab, add a check mark next to File and Printer Sharing - for subnet and Internet if the first setting alone (after all of the above are verified) does not allow Sharing to work.
