Direct SIP implementation between OCS 2007 R1 and CUCM 6.1.3 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm currently running OCS 2007 R1 with voice enable feature and linked to the CUCM with some Dialogic Hybrid gateways for SIP signalling and media streams over QSIG.
I would like to do now a Direct SIP between Cisco and OCS. Do I have only to create a SIP trunk in the CUCM side and to point to the Mediation ?
The transcoding will take place only on the mediation ?

    Thanks.

  • Here is a blog by Mike Stacy about using 7.x direct connect but 6.1 will be pretty similar. You just create a SIP trunk point at your mediation server. Pretty simple really.

You will need to setup a MTP device on CUCM. This is a critical part of the configuration and something people that have deployed CUCM are not always familiar with. Also the inbound CSS will need to be able to allow trunk to trunk transfer if you are using CUCM to pass though to the PSTN.

The only transcoding that takes place is on the mediation as you suggested.

    Cheers
