  • JulianYoung,

    We'd like to follow up with your activation issue.

    Have you run the diagnostic tool for Microsoft Genuine Advantage? This can help to clear up any settings that may block

    activation/validation from occuring on the machine.

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/

    In order to receive the best support, we request all users to initially run the Genuine Diagnostics tool.  The tool will try and identify the individual issue you may be experiencing.  Also, please provide a brief synopsis describing the issue including any error messages or codes. These can be found in the lower left hand corner of most Genuine Advantage Web pages when an error is encountered.

    Please download and run the MS Genuine Diagnostic Tool utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum.

    I hope this has helped!

  • Hello Julian,

    Please reference the following Knowledge Based (KB) article, You are prompted to activate Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 every time that you start the computer, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312295/en-us.  This should provide you with guidance with resolving your problem.

    Thank you,

  • Thanks Stephen for that but I am afraid it did no help.

    I tried the Guide help which seemed to run fine. it asked me to activate which i did , but did not eliminate the problem.

    I tried the manual process and soticed some things;

    Step 3 remove resets from the registry : the resets did not exist!

    Step 8 remove the reset progam files:  failed to find the files

    Any sugestions?
