System says not-activated / Diagnostics Tool says it is Genuine / If i try online it says not Genuine. RRS feed

    Hi ,

     

    I activated my VISTA a few days back and now if go to Control Panel -- System, the message is shown as

     

    "This copy of windows is not activated.Click here to activate windows now."

     

    However if i click nothing happens. Now window opens up for activation to happen.

     

    I am trying to dowload Active Synch for Win Vista from microsoft and then it asked me to validate the OS. It returned a failed status .

     

    I ran the diagnostic tool and it says the product is Genuine and validated !!!!

     

    Pls help, it is very frustrating...

  • Hello,

     

    The error code 0x80070426 (from lines 3 and 4) tells me that your Software Licensing Service has stopped. To restart the service:

     

    If you have acces to the Start button:

    1) Click the Start button

    2) Type: cmd in the Start Search field

    3) At the top the Start window, you will see cmd.exe

    4) Right Click cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator

    5) Type: net start slsvc

     

    If you do not have access to the Start button:

    1) Click the option Access computer with reduced functionality

    2) A Browser will open, type: %windir%\system32 into the address field

    3) Find the file cmd.exe

    4) Right Click on the cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator

    5) Type: net start slsvc

     

     

    If you are unable to start up the service, using the above steps, please create a (no cost) Support Request at
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52029 and they should be able to help you get the service started.
