Out of stock inventory

  This may seem like a stupid question but I am new to Dynamics. Is it possible in Dynamics AX to prevent a store from ordering a product that is not in stock? If the warehouse does not have it in stock and a store goes to order it on their PO a pop-up comes up saying it is not in stock......or something to that effect? Finding the stores are having quiet high unfulfillment as they order items that are not in stock and they don't know otherwise.
