Why are IMJPMIG, IMEKRMIG & TINTSETP running at startup? RRS feed

  • Question

  • On my homebuilt WHS, Msconfig shows IMJPMIG, IMEKRMIG and two instances of TINTSETP running at Startup.  My understanding is that these are all related to inputting East Asian text using Microsoft Global Input Method Editors.

My HP MediaSmart EX495 does not run these at startup.

I don't believe I need them and prefer to run as lean as possible.  On the homebuilt I've unchecked "Install files for complex script...." and "Install files for East Asian languages" under Regional and Language Options (intl.cpl) as well as checked "Turn off advanced text services" but the Startup entries persist.

Do I need them running at Startup and if not, how can I disable them?
