Windows Validation Error

Question
-
I tried installing telnet on windows vista home basic using the optional features through control panel, it failed and now windows says my copy of vista is not genuine in a pop up. When I follow the link supplied to re-validate vista i get this message
Unknown error encountered during Windows validation. The validation service is unable to determine whether your copy of Windows is genuine. Please validate again. If additional attempts result in validation errors you may want to try again later.
[0x80080250]I have had Vista working perfectly for over 6 months with no problems up until now. How do i fix this issue and continue using Vista Happily.Monday, December 31, 2007 2:32 AM

Hello ymode,
First off, please go to http://microsoft.com/genuine/diag and click the "Start Diagnostic" this will check to make sure your setting are correct to Validate. If any issue is found, it should provide information of how to correct the issue.
If that does not resolve your issue, please download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue" click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response message in this thread.
If you do not have access to the Start Button:1) Login to Vista and Click the option that brings up Internet Explorer.
2) Type: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.
3) A window will come up asking if you want to Run or Save, Select Run
4) When the program runs, Click the Continue button, then click the Copy button.
5) Return to this thread by Typing: http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2615293&SiteID=25 into the browser address bar.
6) In a reply post, Paste the Diagnostic Report.
