Disable or Deactive One Care RRS feed

  • Question

  • When we do heavy processing for graphics is there a quick and easy way to deactive or disable OneCare, then reactive when
done.  It's annoying at times for OneCare to stay live all the time.

  • Open OneCare, click Change  Settings - on the Virus and Spyware tab, click disable. It will turn OneCare red and throw a warning. Repeat the same steps to enable or restart the machine.

  • You can disable onecare from command prompt.

    For windows XP:
    *************
Click start---->Run---->cmd----->type without quotes "net stop winss" and hit enter.

    For Windows Vista:
    ***************
Click start----->All programs---->Accessories------>Right click on Command prompt and select Run as administrator------>type without quotes "net stop winss" and hit enter.

    This will stop onecare completely.

To start onecare again, Just type net start winss in the same command prompt window.
    This will start onecare.
