incorrectly labeled media? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to troubleshoot a validation / genuine software issue, and when re-installing with my media, I notice
    that the media and all packaging say "microsoft office professional 2007" but the installer says "microsoft
    office professional plus 2007".
    Could this be possibly mis-labeled media, or caused by something else?  I uninstalled everything, but when I
    had it installed previously, and ran the mgadiag, under office the error was "invalid vlk" (which didn't make
    sense since it was a retail package, and not a volume license.)
    Any helpful feedback is welcome.

  • From your MGA report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 108 Invalid VLK
    Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK

    Unfortunately, the installed copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 is non-genuine because it is counterfeit.  The invalid product key was never issued by Microsoft and was likely created by a counterfeiter using an illegal product key generator (KeyGen).  You can review your options by visiting
    Microsoft Genuine Advantage and clicking on Validate Office.  When validation fails, you will be presented with a Get Genuine button to click on.

  • Here is the diag report post-installation.  I see clearly the "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK"
    but as I said - the media and all packaging only say "Office Professional".
