custom quote form RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have CRM 2011 on-premises. We want to be able to have a quote that will print our logo, the auote itself, a canned license agreement and a form with the total $ amount of the quote in it in a certain location (this form could either be pre-printed or if we could print it with the $ amt on it that would be even better). What is the best way to accomplish this. Right now we use Quickbooks, a PDF editor and a fair amount of manual work. I was hoping CRM could consolidate that and handle it.

  • Dennis,

    Once you create the Word Template you can upload it to CRM

    1. Settings -> Templates

    2. Mail Merge Templates

    3. New Template

    4. Change the Associated Entity to Quote so it's available

    5. Once you Create it you will have change the Template to an Organizational Template so that everyone can use it.

  • CRM quotes work in conjunction with MS Word.

    So to begin with a word template with the logo will be needed.

    If there are a great deal of line items you may have to enhance this in SSRS.

  • Whenever we run into a situation where a custom quote document is required, we always use SSRS just because it offers a lot of flexibility in the overall design.  It also provides a nice quick way to take the quote and export it to a PDF Format or when needed into Microsoft Word for final editing.

  • Nice to have a good outcome.

    And thanks Jeremy for seconding my SSRS report recommendation.

    Note to other readers: CRM gives you the basics for creating quotes and it's pretty good but as in all cases, your situation is special so the quote abilities are general yet open to enhancement.
