Installation of BSM on WSS 3.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,
    I'm having a trouble with instalation of Business Scorecard Manager (BSM) on WSS 3.0.
    On pre required window, all verification pass, see below:

    Web Parts
    Passed    Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
    Passed    Microsoft ASP.NET 1.1
    Passed    Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0
    Passed    Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 or Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003
    Failed    Microsoft SharePoint Extended Site
    Web Service
    Passed    Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
    Passed    Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.0
    Passed    Microsoft OLE DB Provider for OLAP Services (MSOLAP) 2000 SP4 (8.00.2039)
    Passed    Microsoft ADOMD.NET 8.0
    Passed    Microsoft ASP.NET 1.1
    Passed    Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0

    It just failed on "Microsoft SharePoint Extended Site", and I have two websites on IIS. One of them is the Central Administration Site, and the other is a site of Sharepoint, ready to use, upload documents, manage content, etc...

    I have found the script below (on another instalation tha I've made, it works perfectly), this scripts made requirement "Microsoft SharePoint Extended Site" pass when you already have the extended web site, but now it's not working.

    /**/

    WSCript.Echo "done."

    Sub RegisterPorts()

        Set GetWebSiteRoot = Nothing

        dim oWebServer
        dim oWebService
        dim mbRootPath
        dim bFound

        bFound = false
        mbRootPath = "IIS://localhost/W3SVC"

        set oWebService = GetObject(CStr(mbRootPath))

        if( Err.number <> 0) then
            WScript.Echo "Unable to get Root IIS Object"
            Exit Sub
        end if

        For Each oWebServer In oWebService
            if ((0 = StrComp(Cstr(oWebServer.Class), CStr("IIsWebServer"), 1))) then
                 RegisterPort oWebServer.Name
            end if
        Next

    End Sub

    Sub RegisterPort(port)

                Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
                Dim keyName
                keyName = "Port /LM/W3SVC/" & port & ":"
                WshShell.RegWrite "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\Ports\" & keyName, ""

                dim fpKey
                fpKey = "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\Ports\" & keyName & "\frontpageroot"

                dim val
                val = ReadRegKey(fpKey)

                if (val = "") then
                    WshShell.RegWrite fpKey, ""
                end if

    End Sub

    Function ReadRegKey(key)

                ReadRegKey = ""
                Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

                On Error Resume Next

                dim val

                val = WshShell.RegRead(key)
                ' WScript.Echo key & " = " & val
                ReadRegKey = val

    end function

    /**/

    I want to know if there's a workaround where I can aplly to pass the "Microsoft SharePoint Extended Site" requirement.

    Thanks in advance,
    Juliane

  • Are you sure that it is at all possible to install BSM on WSS *3.0*

    All those messages you quote indicate the use of .NET Framework 1.1 and of WSS *2.0* or SPS 2003. ASP.NET 1.1 is also mentioned.

    Given that WSS 3.0 requires .NET Framework 3.0 and ASP.NET 2.0, it looks to me as if the BSM product isn't intended to be installed on WSS 3.0 at all.

    But that is a question for the BSM people.

    Moving to the Off-Topics forum - look for a forum or newsgroup that deals with Business Scorecard Manager.
