  • Hello rfm55,

    The Certificate of Authenticity is telling us that your HP Pavilion computer came from HP with XP Home.  But somewhere along the line, a pirated installation of XP Pro has made its way onto the computer, along with a pirated installation of Office XP Pro with Front Page.

    This part of the report is for Windows:
    WGA Data-->
    Validation Status: Geographically blocked PID
    Validation Code: 13

    Cached Validation Code: N/A
    Windows Product Key: *****-*****-3R89F-D2KXW-VPK3J
    Windows Product Key Hash: Ro/Y7HENE9CfW7lW+QtlNbYQEE8=
    Windows Product ID: 55274-640-8365391-23831
    Windows Product ID Type: 1
    Windows License Type: Volume
    Windows OS version: 5.1.2600.2.00010100.3.0.pro

    This part of the report is for Office:
    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2
    Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage - 114 Blocked VLK 2
    OGA Version: N/A, 0x80070002

    You can fix both problems by backing up your data and removing it from the computer, then use the Recovery solution provided by HP to put the original Genuine XP Home back onto the computer.  (The Recovery process normally erases all user data on the hard disk drive.)  At that point your Windows will once again be Genuine.

    The Recovery Solution may be one or more CDs/DVDs, or a Recovery Partition on the hard disk drive, or both.

    If you do not have the Recovery discs for the computer, visit the drivers and downloads page for your model of Pavilion at hp.com:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=460086  Scroll down to the section of the table entitled "CD-ROM order page - Recovery Discs" and click the links for more info on how to order the discs.

    Regarding Office, if you reinstall the same Office, it will still be a pirated copy.  Please review the FAQ here http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC  to see if you qualify for the genuine Office Offer of either discounted or complimentary replacement of your Office XP with Office 2007.

    Good Luck!
