posting to a site protected by apache authentication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows, is there a way to post to a blog that is on a site protected by apache login authentication with Live Writer?  Is this a feature Microsoft may add in the future?  My family blog is on my site protected by apache authentication but Live Writer can not post to it because it can not log into the site to get to the blog.

  • There is no plans to add a feature like this.

You just need to remove the authentication from the xml-rpc endpoint.  For example if your blog is wordpress, you will need to allow unauthenticated access to xmlrpc.php.  While you configure you will also need to remove the authentication or else you won't get your theme.
