Windows Vista Home Premium Validation no longer valid WTF RRS feed

  • Question

  • I also woke up to this license validation error.

I tried the steps outlined in other threads.

    "%windir%/system32"
    "cmd(as admin)"
"net stop slsvc" <---- generated "service not running error"
    "ren tokens.dat tokens.bar"
"net start slsvc" <---- generated "System error 54273 has occurred."

"cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc" <---- generated " VBScript runtime error: Error in loading DLL: 'g_objWMIService.InstancesOf'

As requested I downloaded and ran the Diagnostic tool. As soon as I hit copy I get a dialog box error stating: Failed to create output files, hr=0x80070002 Please contact support.

I don't know what exactly what to try next

    Please help....

NICE.... you can just run explorer.exe and get the start menu and icons back.

  • Hello Long212,

No, they are having a Non-Genuine issues.  The reason they all appear the same is because there is only one Non-Genuine User Experience (UX) the underlying causes can range from malware infection, file corruption, not activating and using windows downloaded off the internet (to name just a few) and they all require diferant steps.  If they were all the same issue, I could just put a sticky note at the top of the forum and be done.

    Hello makks

Since most non-genuine issues do appear the same, we ask all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.

If you do not have access to the Start Button:
    1) Login to Vista and click the option that brings up Internet Explorer.
    2) Type: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.
    3) A window will come up asking if you want to “Run” or “Save”, Select “Run”
    4) When the program runs, click the “Continue” button, then click the “Copy” button.
    5) Return to this thread http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinevista/thread/eab7c980-ebb3-4b84-9252-49587b60c83a.
    6) In a reply post, paste the Diagnostic Report.

This will help us diagnose the cause of the issue.

    Thank you,
    Darin MS
