Support for Windows Server 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello
I've been experimenting with deployment of Windows HPC Server on Windows Server 2008 R2 (Standard/Enterprise Edition FWIW). A straight deployment seems to work OK, but when attempting an upgrade I've hit some issues. My first question, though:
Is running the HPC pack on Windows Server 2008 R2 a supported configuration?
    Thanks
    Dan

  • Thanks Andrei.
The official answer, which I have received via another route, is that this is indeed not a supported configuration. It seems that while the current HPC pack might be supported at some point on 2008 R2, it's likely that we have to wait for HPC Server V3 before 2008 R2 is a supported host OS.
    Cheers

  • Hi,

I guess not officially supported as I didn't find such SKU in current price list.
Hovewer it would be also nice to hear an official MSFT answer to confirm that guess.

    Thank,
    Andrei
