Microsoft Office Word 2007 Certification RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am thinking of taking the Microsoft Word certification 2007 very soon and I have been studying the book Microsoft Certified Application Specialist by Joyce Cox. I also got the Kaplan IT learning practice test and I was wondering if someone who also took the exams, could give me any tips in order to succeed this exam the first time.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Mary Joyce

  • Hi Mary,

If you've used the book from Joyce and took the practice test from Kaplan you are ready to go. Keep the following in mind. You have a timefram of 60 minutes to complete the test. So what's important to know is where can i find every option to accomplish the task. In other words get to know the ribbon. Furthermore the officebutton is an important feature expecially being introduced in 2007 so know this inside out.

If you know word you'll find that there are three types of questions that can be asked. Very simple ones, very hard ones and the others which are in between. Don't let the timer get in the way and just preceed according to you own pace. If you don't know a question right away skip it and move to the next. The skipped questions will show up at the end of the exam. This is a very important tip because a lot op people get stuck in time because they have spent to much time thinking about a question they didn't know right away.

It's a hands on exam so practice before you go. Try to practice the obvious but also practice the not so obvious. When your done feel confident that you can make it, that would be my last tip because feeling confident makes you perform better.

Good luck on taking the exam and let us know if you passed ;-)

  • Hi Maurice,

Thanks for these tips, I have been practicising the exam mode a couple of times and I cannot finish within the 60 mins time limit. Also, would you by any chance know the passing marks for the exam.

    I will keep on practising.

    Thanks

    Joyce

  • Hi,

Sorry forgot to post the message, I did the test last month and I passed. Thanks for the tip about getting to know the ribbon as there was at least 5 or 6 questions just on that. The practice exams and the study guide book definetely helped. I will start my excel during Fall.

    Thanks again

    Joyce
