On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xC000009C' to display the error text.
    Error: 0xC000009C

Click the Start Orb & type cmd.exe into the search menu.

Right click it & run as administrator.

Type the following command: sfc /scannow & hit enter.

Wait for the process to finish. When it's done, reboot the system & Validate Online using Internet Explorer.

I left the online validation page running overnight and it's stuck on 'in process' with the green donut.

OK - I assume you've killed that by now?
Try a disk check - the error in your report seems to indicate a possible problem with the filesystem.

    Click on the Start button
    type in the Search box
    CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
    Select Run as Administrator
    - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
    At the Command prompt, type
    CHKDSK   C:   /R
    and hit the Enter key
You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot. The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot)

run another MGADiag report, and post the result.

  • Depending on how you came by Office, it may not be valid on this computer.  It is a volume license version.

What message are you seeing on your desktop?

  • Normally nothing out of the ordinary shows on the desktop (which is probably why I haven't noticed it until yesterday), but in the last couple of days "This copy of Windows is not genuine" has been showing up periodically (after the computer has been on for a little while).

    Activation was obviously NOT successful!
I'd try rebuilding the Licensing Store - it may have been corrupted as a result of the disk problem.
    Recreate the Licensing Store
        1) Click Start button.
        2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
        3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
