  • Question

  • I tried to validate my software to do an update in my business contacts and it would not validates saying my software is not genuine.  I purchased it online paid over $160 for the software and have been putting my business contacts in for over 2 years.  I filled out the paper work online to fet the complimentary offer of ther genuine office and am sending the orginal cd along with reciept of purchase to microsoft.  Now when i get the genuine office am I going to be able to transfer my business contacts into that.  I have hundreds of names in my contacts and do not want to use them.  I am also not abel to back up that file for some reason so I am really nervous about losing my data for my business.

What edition/version of Office do you have? To find your edition/version click Start, Word Options, Resources, About, there you should find the title of your edition.

Also please run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostictic Tool.

This will try and identify the individual issue you may be experiencing.  Please provide a brief synopsis describing your scenario, including any dialogue, error messages, or codes. Error codes can be found in the lower left hand corner of most Genuine Advantage Web pages when an error is encountered.

By clicking the link below, you will download the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool (MGADT).  Then click the Run button. Then click the Run button again. Then click the Continue button to perform the diagnostic. The Windows tab should show, click the Copy button to paste your report to the clipboard.  Then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum by adding a post in it and pressing Ctrl V (to paste the text). Clicking the OK button will clear the Diagnostic window. Here is the download link:
