Generic Icons Installed on Desktop

Question
-
I installed Live Onecare on three computers today with only one small problem on my Vista Ultimate computer. The installs on the two XP boxes were flawless.
I installed Live Oncare on my only Vista box with no problems and everything is working properly. The only issue with this box is that the desktop icons have a generic icon superimposed over the normal icons, which are partially visible. The only icons not affected are "Computer", "Recycle Bin", a text document, and a Word document.
All icons in Quick Launch and Start Menu are normal. I tried selecting properties of an icon and attempted to restore the original icon with no luck. I have also rebooted several times with no joy. All other applications on this box are working normally.
Is there any way I can get rid of the superimposed gerneric icons?
Thank you for your help!

Just to keep you up to date,
After extensive searching and trying many different suggestions, I used WinBubbles to fix the problem. This introduced another problem by placing arrows over the desktop icons. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the arrows, so I downloaded Vista Icon Manager and this took care of the arrow issue.
I am sure there are a lot easier ways to go about this just using Vista, but I am not yet familiar enough to get down to the nitty gritty, inner workings. Just give me time :-)
One other note, Live OneCare is working quite nicely and places far fewer demands on my system than ZoneAlarm Security Suite did when I was using it. ZoneAlarm is an excellent application, but places way too much overhead on my Dell QuadCore XPS box. I can't even image how slow it would make a lesser powered box.
Once again, thank you for your help and an excellent application!!!

Do you mean that there is a small shield superimposed on some icons on the desktop and start menu? In the lower right hand corner? If so, that means that these links will cause you to be prompted by UAC if you really want to perform whatever action clicking that icon does. In other words, it requires elevated privileges on Vista to perform some actions.
It is the same shield that you will see when you open OneCare - located next to Change Settings on a Vista machine and it is the icon for the Windows Security Center in Control Panel.
If that isn't the icon you mean, then if you could post a link to a picture of the icon or icons uploaded to a photo sharing site such as Flickr would be helpful.
In any event, that wouldn't be due to OneCare.

Ah! Yes, that's a broken set of icons.
Try this:

I tried the suggestions on the page to which you referred multiple times, but still had no luck. I understand this is a OneCare forum, so I will look elsewhere.
Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks for updating us on the solution. I'm curious as to the cause, but glad that you were able to solve it.
