WHS 2011 backup Access is Denied 2155348299

Question
-
I have just set up, for the first time, my WHS 2011 backup to a 2TB USB Seagate drive.
The backup formatted the drive, and appears to be set up correctly,
(altought I can no longer see under "Computer" (it was drive H))
On running the backup for the first time I get the error message
"The scheduled backup did not finish successfully and returned the following error code: 2155348299 Access is denied"
The proposed resolution - start a backup, is no use as the error happens every time.
I cannot find this error described elsewhere and the Alert viewer provides no more information on alternatives to resolve.
How can I resolve this error?

You should be able to see it using the Dashboard under HardDrives, Server Backup - it will not have a drive letter.Phil P.S. If you find my comment helpful or if it answers your question, please mark it as such.

Thankyou
I checked and repaired the hard drive via the Dashboard and also repaired the backup database (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/repair-backup-database-2.aspx).
My machine has 5GB memory.
I have a new, empty 2TB USB HDD, and am backing up at most 400GB.
None of the errors covered in the article (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/server-backup-solutions-2.aspx) apply to my problems.
Server Backup was not successful because of insufficient memory
- Server Backup was not successful because of not enough free space
- One or more of the selected items were not backed up
- The selected drive is greater than 2 TB and cannot be included in Server Backup. Consider dividing the hard disk on which the drive is located into drives that are smaller than 2 TB
when I try the backup again I get the same message and error number
