Submit a 3 tasks job to HPC Basic Profile web service using JSDL-HPCPA or SOA RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone.

    I have enabled HPC Basic Profile on my Windows HPC 2008 R2 cluster and I have submited a simple job using Java/Axis2/Rampart from Linux. However I don't find the way in order to submit a job with 3 tasks:

    1. Task type NodePrep
    2. Parametric task
    3. Task type NodeRelease

    I have tested several options in my jsdl example, such setting 2 <jsdl:Application> blocks or 2 <jsdl-hpcp:HPCProfileApplication name="WSPing" > block, but it didn't work.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <jsdl:JobDefinition
    		xmlns:jsdl="http://schemas.ggf.org/jsdl/2005/11/jsdl"
    		xmlns:jsdl-hpcp="http://schemas.ggf.org/jsdl/2006/07/jsdl-hpcpa"
    		xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
     <jsdl:JobDescription>
      <jsdl:JobIdentification>
       <jsdl:JobName>WSPing</jsdl:JobName>
      </jsdl:JobIdentification>
      <jsdl:Application>
       <jsdl-hpcp:HPCProfileApplication name="WSPing" >
        <jsdl-hpcp:Executable>ping</jsdl-hpcp:Executable>
        <jsdl-hpcp:Argument>localhost</jsdl-hpcp:Argument>
        <jsdl-hpcp:Input></jsdl-hpcp:Input>
        <jsdl-hpcp:Output>\\WINHN\Public\wsping.out.txt</jsdl-hpcp:Output>
        <jsdl-hpcp:Error>\\WINHN\Public\wsping.err.txt</jsdl-hpcp:Error>
       </jsdl-hpcp:HPCProfileApplication>
      </jsdl:Application>
      <jsdl:Resources>
       <jsdl:ExclusiveExecution>true</jsdl:ExclusiveExecution>
       <jsdl:TotalCPUCount>
        <jsdl:UpperBoundedRange>1</jsdl:UpperBoundedRange>
        <jsdl:LowerBoundedRange>1</jsdl:LowerBoundedRange>
       </jsdl:TotalCPUCount>
      </jsdl:Resources>
     </jsdl:JobDescription>
    </jsdl:JobDefinition>

    I think result won't change if I use SOA or JSDL-HPCPA. Is this true?

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards.

    Juan Palomino.

  • Hi Juan,

    If you look at what you can send via jsdl it has a "job" specification but not tasks. Perhaps you could write a script that does the three tasks and submit that?
