Unauthorized product key, incorrect, after hardware upgrade and reinstall, XP home

Question

Hi,
My disk crashed a week ago. I ran XP home on it. I then did the following>
1. I managed to get all my important data out of it plus the XP key and product key using third party software, Spotmau.
2. The computer was bought from my employer with pre installed XP home on it. I do not have the original XP home CD.
2. I installed a SCSI/card, Adaptec 29160 plus a SCSI disk. The old disk was an ordinary IDE disk.
3. I used the 6 recovery CDs that I have to reinstall XP home. That almost worked but i received an error message when I tried to start XP, biosinfo.inf missing or corrupt.
4. I then borrowed a friends XP home CD and did a repair install of my installation. This worked fine. I had to remove the sound card though. I even succesfully entered my product key in the end. If I use the Spotmau software to extract the key it is the same as before my reinstallation.
5. Now Windows wants to get activated again! If I enter the product key is says unauthorized key! This can not be correct. I do have a vaild key. Also the pre/installed Word 2002 complains about hardware changes and wants me to enter the original Word 2002 CD that I do not have.
6. My own theory, is all this due to that I changed my disk from IDE to SCSI or the removed soundcard.

The problem here is that you've used an incorrect CD set to reinstall the OS - an OEM_SLP product Key relies on certificates in the OS itself, and the SLIC table in the motherboard BIOS.Your installation of XP is missing the correct certificates, because you used a wrong recovery disk set (or a OEM System Builder disk) to reinstall the system. For what version and edition of Windows is the PC licensed, according to the COA sticker on the case? It is a Compaq Presario manufactures in late 2003 - which means that it's probably licensed for either XP Home or Pro - but which is it?If the COA license states XP Home, the use the Product Key Update Tool to change the Key to the one on the sticker....
