Help! On Mac SL w. newest version (NOT library folder): Live mesh error: 400 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I got some major issues regarding Live Mesh Version 0.9 (0.9.4501.0) on a 13inch MacBook Pro running OSX Snow Leopard (10.6.3). I've tried installing/uninstalling Live mesh (and removing Application support folders for live mesh and live id), removing the device from the devices webpage, started off with a new Windows Live-account - but nothing helps. My problems are:

    - If I try creating a new mesh folder or adding an existing one (through the mesh notifier), I get the error message "Choose a different location. The Live Mesh Agent returned an error: 400". This is independent of folder destination (Mac HD, Desktop, Documents, User...)

    - If I create a folder through my mesh desktop (online) - it won't show in the menu bar notifier and, thus, I cannot synchronize this folder to my computer.

The desktop status for my device is "up to date" even after I upload files through the desktop (which obviously is not the case).

Why doesn't Live Mesh work? I can't seem to find any instructions on this issue. Thank you...

  • Thanks for the additional information.

You can submit a bug report with logs, but I don't know that you'll get a response at this point. I'll paste the instructions below. It seems like there is something wrong with the Mesh install on the Mac in some way. I don't have a Mac, so I can't provide any useful help, I think. I would have suggested a new LiveID based on the behavior, but you already tried that. How to Submit Bugs and Live Mesh Logs

Note that you may not receive a response to the bug report, though. It will be transferred to the internal system to be assigned to the appropriate development group.

  • Does this apply to you? http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMesh/thread/e379b3a8-33a1-4780-81d5-6c16365e8ffe

A search for the 400 error returns lots of results in the forum. Most of the hits for the Mac are due to the issue highlighted in the above thread.

Other common reasons, which wouldn't apply to you, I believe, are trying to sync with removable media, or trying to sync with a location that has moved.

  • Hi!

Thanks for your reply, but the link does not apply to me I'm afraid. I'll clarify a bit: I've tried both adding new and existing folders through the notifier menu. None of the folders have been in any of the Library folders (which the only tip I find when searching for the 400 error). I've tried putting the folders on MacHD, in the Users folder and in it's subfolders - and I get the same message every time.

Also, a folder created through the Live Mesh Desktop does not show in the notifier list - I'm suspecting these problems are linked? I have had Live Mesh installed and working earlier (on OSX Leopard 10.5), so I know how it is supposed to work/look like.

Does anyone have other suggestions? Or can you contact the Microsoft crew in any way?

    /Patrik
