Making CRM-Outlook Conditional Formatting System-wide RRS feed

  • Question

  • We use the Outlook client for CRM Online and fine some of the capabilies to do conditional formating inherent in Outlook very useful.  The videos I have seen on this subject demonstrate doing this for individual Outlook clients.  We would like to share some of these settings for CRM-related entities for all our users.

    Can this be done?

Does someone have a good reference for the process of doing it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Conditional formatting is actually stored in CRM user settings. See blog from Jim Glass: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/crm/archive/2010/10/06/microsoft-dynamics-crm-2011-let-s-get-conditional.aspx

Once that is said.. I dont think you can apply conditional format to system views.. Only personal views.

The only solution I can see, is that you create a personal view and then share it to all users.. as Jim Glass suggests in the above mentioned blog.

  • Unfortunately, because conditional formatting is an Outlook user preference there's no easy way to set the same conditional formats for CRM views for all users of CRM for Outlook. I'm not sure where the Outlook conditional formatting settings are stored (somewhere local on the PC, I presume) so you might need to develop some kind of desktop app to add the same settings to each user's PC.
