OCS setup, clients connect, but can't talk to each other via IM (only test) RRS feed

    I have a test OCS set up [ 1 AD, 1 OCS, no other servers ]. I have the dns done and both clients are manually configured. They connect fine, but when I try to IM the other it says they are off line. The same happens to other way around too.


    Any ideas.

  • Can you turn on logging on Communicator and check Event viewer? Do you get any errors on the server event viewer?

  • I didn't have any errors. Couldn't figure it out for the life of me. I finally gave up and reinstalled the server. Didnt know how much fun that was going to cause in Active Directory, but it is working now.

  • IM is the simplest form of communication in OCS so 90% of the time when I hear your problem described the Front End Services are usually not started.


    You could also run the Validation Wizard which will simulate IM between to users and tell you exactly where your problem lies.
