Windows 7 was genuine but one year later says it isn't

Question
-
I had Windows 7 installed about a year ago, by a trusted friend with a computer business. I purchased a KEY and everything was fine....until about 2 weeks ago. Now I am getting a message that I need to activate windows. I try to enter my key, and it tells me that the key has been blocked by Microsoft (worked for a year). I tried to activate by phone and it said I don't have a genuine copy of windows. Everything was fine until just recently. I am no computer expert. Here is the MS Diag report.

The -220- portion of your Product Key indicates that it is a Not-For-Resale MSDN version.
In order to get an MSDN subscription, you need to sign agreements with Microsoft. Then they allow you access to keys that are to be used ONLY for the purpose for which they were intended. When those keys are leaked and "activated" enough times, Microsoft will ban them from further use. That might take over a year before a particular one is banned. But the effect is the same - the counterfeit installation is then flagged as non-genuine.
For more information see the following thread:

If you are not an MSDN subscriber, you will need to purchase a genuine copy of Windows 7, reformat and reinstall. Be sure to backup your data first. If this is the case, contact the seller and demand an immediate refund. Do NOT accept an offer of an alternate key! Please do not read this sentence. Please ignore the previous sentence.

Ok Thank you. I was nervous about the company that I bought the key from. Guess I should have trusted my gut.Wednesday, April 30, 2014 3:02 PM
