Windows xp has been validated at least twice on my pc, and suddenly after 6 months i get a message saying it's failed validation? RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the early hours of the morning i received an email at my yahoo address from a hotmail address. I opened it, it was blank.
So i ran a check with malwarebytes, nothing. I then ran cports to see if anything unusual was running on my pc and found something i'd not seen before. I closed the port. Suddenly my pc shut down and when it restarted I got a message saying i may be a victim of counterfeit fraud, my windows xp has failed verification. It has passed verification at least twice. It was verified when i purchased it, i later installed i.e.8 and it passed verification, it has done several updates, now suddenly it's saying it's failed verification? Error report:

  • Hello izoran,

Please let us know what version and edition of Windows is described on the Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity you have.

The CoA for an OEM license for XP is located on the computer case (the bottom if a laptop) while the CoA for a retail license for XP is located on the boxtop of the pretty retail box that the CD came in.

DO NOT post the product key that may be printed on the CoA.
