Using Windows Home Server with LG BD390 Blu Ray Player RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can successfully serve movies and photos to my LG BD390 player from my Windows Home Server, using the player's "My Media" client. However music files don't work - they appear in a list but when I try to play them the LG box just skips through them. According to LG product support I have to use the supplied Nero MediaHome 4 software. They don't appear to have heard of Windows Home Server. The wma and mp3 files are well within the specs that LG support, and it is supposed to work with any DLNA server. So my questions are:

    1. Is Windows Home Server compliant with DLNA?
    2. Has anybody got WHS working with the LG BD390 player?
    3. Does Nero MediaHome 4 work with WHS?

  • Windows Home Server is not DLNA compliant.

As for Nero MediaHome 4, I think you will have to consult with Nero on that. An extremely brief review of their web site suggests that it's capable of running on Windows Home Server, but I don't know enough about the software to say how hard it would be to configure it for use in the WHS environment (or if it would even be possible).
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
