Enhanced Presence does not set automatically RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just finished a proof of concept for the role out of OCS 2007 and we are getting ready to move on to full deployment. The issue I am having is that when a LCS user is migrated enhanced presence is not checked which is what we want till we upgrade their client the issue we are running into is that when they login with communicator 2007 it will not let them login till we manually select enhanced presence. this is an issue because we are getting to migrate 1000 users

  • Dave,

This is by design as once Enhanced Presense is set for a user it cannot be reverted.  And because clients using the 1.0 (2005) version of Communicator do not support Enhanced Presence, you do NOT want that value set on them yet as they will no longer be able to connect once their accounts are move into an OCS pool.

The standard migration approach is to move the LCS users over to OCS pool(s) and then at the same time their workstations are updated to the 2.0 (2007) client (or newer R2 client) is when you want to set Enhanced Presence on all of the user accounts.

In short: OC 2005 only works with accounts NOT enabled for Enhanced Presence and OC 2007 (and R2) clients only work with users WITH Enhanced Presence enabled.
