Server Back Up RRS feed

  • Question

  • So I recently checked my server back up and found that I couldn't access the information. The messages and status just say "Reading Data. Please wait" no matter how long you leave it.

I have tired access through the command line prompt and via dashboard on server and my desktop. Nothing works.

Deleted all backs and formatted the back up drive. Still no difference.

Removed back up features, rebooted, re-installed rebooted. Still nothing.

Any one have any ideas?? Dont like running around without a system back up??

  • Hi Aaron,

Based on your description, I understand that you opened Windows Server Backup and then hang at “Reading Data. Please wait.”

Please check if you have installed all necessary Updates for the Windows Home Server 2011. Please also check if encounter the same issue when you open Windows Server Backup via Microsoft Management Console. Would you please let me confirm whether any third-party application was installed in the Windows Home Server 2011? Meanwhile, would you please check whether find any relevant error in any event log?

On current situation, please run sfc /scannow command to scan all protected system files and then monitor the result.

In addition, please refer to following article and check if help you to repair Windows Home Server 2011.

Restore or repair your server using the installation DVD

If anything I misunderstand or any update, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

    All updates are installed.

Does not matter which way I open the back up weather via dashboard, Management Console or via command line.

A new program was installed serviio

sfc came up good with no problems

Could not see anything in the event log. Can do a restore as I deleted all the back ups thinking it was the problem. I guess I will have to try a repair or worse a full re-install.

    Any other ideas??
