  • Hello ST1NGA,

As we can see by the Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) for XP Home, your computer is licensed to run an OEM installation of XP Home.

But, as we can see by the mgadiag report, your computer currently has a nongenuine volume licensing installation of XP Pro on it:

Validation Status: Invalid Product KeyValidation Code: 8 Cached Validation Code: N/A Windows Product Key: *****-*****-PY6BX-K24PJ-TWT6M Windows Product Key Hash: gBNdtaXuo+0yYWQ2vJRYtwUVPx0= Windows Product ID: 55274-643-7213323-23137 Windows Product ID Type: 1 Windows License Type: Volume Windows OS version: 5.1.2600.2.00010100.2.0.pro

If you do an internet search for the partial product key you get a zillion hits, showing that it is a widely pirated key.  Even if you just search this forum you get at least four pages of hits.

So, to correct the situation, you have to back up and offload your data, then do a clean installation of XP Home using a genuine Microsoft hologrammed systembuilder/OEM installation disc.  Your title says you have no disc and no cash.  Unfortunately, I know of no way to come up with a disc without at least a little cash to pay for shipping from Microsoft.  If you did have some cash, this MS KB would tell you how to get a replacement disc:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246

You can look at the computers of family and friends, and if anyone has a CoA like yours (XP Home and "OEM Product" or "OEM Software" printed on it) that means that you can use their disc and your Product Key to install XP Home.  Do NOT be tempted to download an iso of the disc you need, these are usually polluted with malware, rootkits, and who knows what else!!

  • Hello ST1NGA,

If you are experiencing a problem related to Windows XP Genuine Advantage, please follow these instructions:

In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Run" several times to download and start the Utility.  When asked, click the "Continue" button.  When the utility completes its run, click the "Copy" button, then come back here and paste the report into your post.

Also, please look on the computer for a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA).  If there is a CoA, please tell us what version and edition of Windows is listed on the CoA, and if there is a manufacturer's name or "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" printed on the CoA.  Do not post the product key printed on the CoA.
