Remote acess via web page working very slow RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ever since i installed vail, i've noticed that, every time i try accessing server's implemented web sites (http://server; http://server/connect) they're taking forever to load. The problem can't be in slow internet speed as i'm testing it locally, and i've tried on 3 different client PCs, so the problem is definitely server-side. Any ideas?

  • Hi,
    Please define "slow"?

I have running VAIL on rather under-powered hardware (HP EX475). Under normal circumstances the login or main page loads within 10 seconds. The main page needs some time to scan the Media Library - depending on the state number of media files this takes less then 30 seconds. (Fact is that the new VAIL Silverlight interface needs more power then the WHSv1 webinterface. This is partly why the hardware specification for VAIL a set higher then for WHSv1).

Unless there is some problem slow pagloads are probebly due to the server being low on resources (most imporatntly CPU and Memory) . How much RAM has you server available?

No home server like Home Server

  • It was slow, as in, it took 20+ seconds just to load the login screen. I say was, because i seem to have found the problem. Must have somthing to do with DNS i belive. When i tried to access via IP rather than PC name, the loading seemed perfectly reasonable.

Another issue however, is that i can't seem to be able to save username when i map a network drive. I set the path, type in the credentials and tick of save option, but every time i restart the PC i still have to type user info to access the drive again.
