One of my colleague purchased a company laptop while leaving her previous job - she does not have the windows CD - however original CD key is present at the back of the laptop - Its windows XP professional edition - manufact by Dell - she has been using the laptop however now has got virus and needs to reinstall windows - I gave a ring to Dell customer support but they were unable to help - Can you please suggest a way by which we can re-install windows on to her machine using her original key - please note we do not have a windows CD -
Your issue appears to be outside of the scope of the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) program forum. In an attempt to assist I would like to provide some information which may or may not be of help. Recovery Media is specific to your computer manufacturer. Many computer manufacturers do offer replacement recovery media for a small fee. Also, you may want to make sure that your computer does not have a recovery partition, as some computers do not require actual recovery media. The best place to look this sort of information up for answers, are the websites of the computer manufacturers. Look for support pages within their websites.
