Can't run chkdsk /r on primary hard drive. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I receive a file conflict message which says one of my files is corrupt.

As outlined in the "FAQ: How do I resolve file conflicts" article I tried to run chkdsk /r on the primary hard drive and got the error "Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.  Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?"  I chose yes, and restart the server, but chkdsk does not appear to run at restart and I still get the file conflict message.

I was able to run "for /d %1 in (c:\fs\*) do chkdsk /x /r %1" and it successfully ran on the other three drives (two internal, one external) and it found no errors.
