Is phoneNumber required for Communicator to be able to search contacts? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Although some users are in GalContacts.db, they dont show up in communicator search. These users does not have any PhoneNumber set yet. Is there anything that I can do to change this behavior?

    Thanks.

  • Not that I know of. OCS requires an E164 number for the address book service to pick it up.

The problem is that there are users in our organization who are not OCS enabled (that is they dont have Primary URI set yet) and do not have telephoneNumber.

What I have done is that I added one more attribute to abAttribute table as a required attribute so that I can include all users who are not OCS enabled and does not have telephoneNumber, as PrimaryURI or TelephoneNumber (or home/mobile number) are required for User Replicator. After AB sync'ed, users showed up in GALContacts.db

So, I wonder if Primary URI or telephoneNumber are also required for MOC to be able to search users in GalContacts.db... If so, is there any way to change this behavior?

    Thank you.

  • Based on http://blogs.technet.com/networking/archive/2007/11/19/searching-for-a-contact-in-office-communicator-2007-returns-no-results.aspx, SIP address or a telephone number is required for communicator to return results.

    Thanks.
